A pair of ornate cast-iron 'horseshoe' benches stamped to the back 'Carron' and also with kite registration marks. The Carron foundry was in the scottish town of Falkirk and was, at one time, the major employer in the town producing all kinds of iron goods. This was their only important design for garden furniture and was produced as a sideline to the main business.The design was first registered and patented in1846.
