An old garden bench with white painted timber rails on three cast-iron supports each stamped Yates,Haywood and Co, Rotherham and London. James Yates ran an innovative foundry from the Effingham Works in Rotherham, registering 66 designs for cast iron furniture between 1840 and 1883, (second only to the Coalbrookdale company with 114 designs).
