| Item no 768
A good, large cornmill stone, probably originally in a windmill, now on an associated round stone base. The surface of the stone is incised with a pattern of grooves which allowed grain from the centre to reach the edge of the millstone as flour. The patterned surface would help make this a very effective water feature with the water issuing from the centre in the same way that grain once did. It could also be used as a circular stone seat. From the Wellington area of Shropshire.
19th Century
48" diameter x 24" high overall
