An old lead pump
View 1 View 2
Item no 604

An old lead pump with a square top bearing the initials TM and the date 1765 on a ringed round shaft. This type of lead pump was usually encased in wood with only the decorated face showing and was used to draw water from a well before the more familiar cast-iron pumps were developed in the 19th Century. In a modern garden context they can be successfully incorporated into self-circulating water features.

18th Century

38" high
