£1200 Statue, £850 Pedestal
An old English lead statue of Mercury balanced on one foot on a ball base on a carved stone pedestal. Mercury was the Roman messenger to the Gods and also the God of commerce and trading. This well weathered figure is after the elegant 16th century bronze by Giambologna and looks interesting from all angles. The antique stone pedestal is carved in Baroque style and is from Northern Europe.
