| Item no 693
A large, rectangular horse trough carved from a single block of sandstone with thick walls and riven sides and an original drainage hole at one end. It has a good colonisation of lichen and moss except for a bare strip on each side left by a wrought-iron strap which has now been removed. The moss and lichen already present will soon spread over these bare marks. The iron strap probably secured the plumbing originally because the walls are sound and did not need reinforcing. From the Inkberrow area of Worcestershire.
18th / 19th Century
48" x 36" x 26" high
