An interesting antique limestone urn on column carved in an early style, the semi-lobed bowl decorated with satyr masks hung with garlands on a foliate column on a rockwork base. This urn is probably mid 19th century but may earlier. It was, reputedly, originally at the old priory of Markyate Cell near Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire which, in the 17th century, was the home of the 'wicked lady Ferrers' who, despite being a wealthy heiress, became a notorious highway robber on the nearby Normansland Common.
Probably mid19th century.
