An antique stoneware poppy bowl
Item no 511

A large antique stoneware poppy bowl on a round base, the bowl decorated with three garlands of poppies and with three niche handles. This design was produced by the Compton Potters Arts Guild established in 1895 in the village of Compton, near Guildford. The bowl is not stamped but the grainy consistency of the stoneware is similar to some of the clay used at Compton.
