| Item no 554
A large Portland-stone urn, the upper section relief carved with two winged amorini linked with swags of flowers tied with ribbons, and with a pine cone top finial. This is a rare antique urn which could be an interesting focal point in a large garden. It was originally in the gardens of Thornes House, a Georgian Mansion near Wakefield in Yorkshire, which was burnt down in 1951. The grounds have become the public park known as Thornes Park.
19th Century or possibly earlier
