A rare antique lead wall mask modelled as Pan with curved horns, goatlike ears and an unkept beard. The mask has it's original wall attachment projecting from the back, including a pipe to the mouth, so it could be re-used as a wall fountain. The overall condition and quality of the modelling is very good and it was probably made by the Bromsgrove Guild during its heyday from 1898 until the first world war. A very similar but not identical mask of a satyr is attributed by the British Museum to Victor Voitz who was a member of the Guild.
Late 19th/early 20th century
