A vintage terracotta Biot jar from Southern France, the rim and neck and interior with a pale honey-coloured glaze. This is an old and weathered example of the famous Biot jars which were traditionally used to store olive oil and other commodities. It could be used as an indoor decorative object or as a garden feature. If it is to be reused outdoors in the UK it would benefit from a drainage hole through the base.
19th Century.
