Large Stone Trough

Item no: 2235

A large and heavy sandstone trough from the upper Frome valley near Bromyard, Herefordshire. Everything about this trough suggests a very early trough which was probably originally used as a sink for washing and cleaning. It could be reused as the base for a rockery or incorporated into a water feature with the water running out through the drainage hole in the front.

18th Century or earlier.
