A large vintage wrought iron planter of square form on four iron wheels. Originally from Wales this is a rare survivor of a bygone age and was apparently for feeding young shire horses in a field where, being wheeled, it could be moved around to prevent the ground being trodden up. The liner is modern but enables it to be easily planted up with flowers to create a great feature where space allows, such as perhaps outside a barn conversion.
19th century.
