A large antique sundial, the calibrated bronze plate supported on a tapered square sandstone pedestal. The pedestal was reputedly once in a church in Bingley, West Yorkshire, since demolished, and has charming winged cherub heads on each corner of the capital top. The plate is signed 'Abraham and co, Liverpool' for the optician and instrument maker Abraham Abraham who had premises in Lord Street, Liverpool between 1820 and 1850.
