Antique Sandstone Staddle Stone
ITEM No. 3257
Staddle stones were used for hundreds of years throughout the British countryside to store crops off the ground before the rapid mechanisation of agriculture made them redundant. They were often then redeployed in the farmer’s garden because they are a great way to add character and structure to a garden. There are lots of regional variations in shape and the natural stones used and they continue to quietly enhance many lovely gardens.
