An unusual old sharpening stone, the sandstone wheel supported in a wrought-iron rectangular frame. Quite a number of old sandstone wheels have survived but it is unusual to find a wheel still in the original frame especially when the frame is wrought-iron rather than cast-iron. This would be an unusual feature outside a barn conversion or in a farmhouse courtyard and it does still work as a sharpening stone if required.
Probably 18th Century.
46" X 32" X 44" high.
