Antique Sandstone Staddlestone

An antique sandstone staddlestone from near Ombersley, Worcestershire, the large round top on a separate tapered base. This is a large staddlestone carved from the old red sandstone found in North Worcestershire which usually rapidly attracts colonising moss. In this case the top was previously stored upside down under cover so is unusually bare but moss is already beginning to re-establish.
