Antique Sandstone Staddlestone

An antique sandstone staddlestone from West Shropshire, the weathered top raised on a separate tapered base. This unusually tall staddlestone has a spreading base which adds stability and was probably partly underground when originally used as the foundation for a large rick of hay or straw. It would make a good pair with the staddlestone in item number 2679.
