Antique Staddle Stone

An attractively weathered antique staddle stone from Malvern, Worcestershire, the round limestone top on a separate tapered sandstone base. Old staddlestones with limestone tops on sandstone bases occur quite regularly and it seems that limestone tops were sometimes imported into sandstone areas because limestone is a more durable stone.
