An intriguing antique limestone statue of a young boy reclining against an architectural element on an associated composition stone panelled base. The subject depicted by this statue is not known but it is probably significant that the boy is naked apart from a plain helmet or cap and the architectural feature that he is casually leaning against is carved with mythical sea creatures. It is difficult to be sure of the date of this type of statue but it could be an example of early English sculpture. With it's well matched base it makes an interesting and substantial garden focal point.
The price is for the statue and plinth combined. The dimensions of the statue without the plinth are 16" x 15" x 40" high.
19th century or earlier.
