Antique Sandstone Torso

An antique red sandstone reversible torso from Cumbria depicting a classical female figure on one side and a Roman centurion on the other. From a Cumbrian private garden collection this is an intriguing and very unusual piece of sculpture but unfortunately we don't know its original provenance. Stylistically it looks 18th century but it could be earlier or later.

The price and height are for the torso on it's own. It is photographed on a salvaged sandstone column which is SOLD.
