Antique Stone Water Trough

An antique rectangular stone trough from West Gloucestershire, of generous proportions with drainage holes drilled through the base and carved on all outer sides with a striated horizontal pattern. The reason for the striated pattern on the sides is unclear and may be simply the trademark style of a particular stonemason or quarry.

This trough was originally a water trough for farm animals and will hold water if the drainage holes are blocked up.
