A pair of large composition-stone urns with egg and dart rims, twin looped handles and square bases. They came from a large mansion in Staffordshire and were almost certainly made in the mid to late 19th century by one of several makers producing high quality garden ornaments in 'Roman' stone. The urns are in ex garden condition with old distressed paint in places and several visible cracks. However, they are probably more stable than they look since most of the better makers incorporated copper wire into the side walls of their large urns which greatly increases their strength and durability.
