A large Portuguese terracotta oil jar supported in a modern three legged wrought iron frame. This jar was formerly in a private garden in South Wales whose owners personally sourced several large oil jars from Portugal. This example is exceptionally large and the fact that it was made by hand in a mountain village is astonishing.
There is an inscription under the rim which is difficult to read but appears to be the maker's name and the date 1917. The height given is approximate and includes the modern three legged iron frame which holds the jar about 10" clear of ground level.
This is a heavy and difficult item to deliver but we are happy to advise on delivery requirements.
